A second half comeback sees Bury Under-23s come from 2-0 down to beat Barking 3-2, following up on last week's away win at Heybridge Swifts.

Bury Town Under-23s get their home Isthmian Development North campaign underway with a late winner in a five goal thriller with Barking. 

Five current Bury Town Under-18 players featured for the Blues' Development side with second years Tom Gee, George Allison, Ben Haddoch, Clinton Frank and Jack Turner (who came off the bench midway through the first half) all impressing.

The two sides always provide an entertaining contest when they've met in the past with this no different.

The first half was quite slow going in terms of chances created for either team, with just five chances of note between the two sides within the first half. 

The opening chance fell the way of the home side 15 minutes in as Max Maughn fired over from the edge of the box, whilst Ollie Snaith looped a close range header just wide from a dangerous free-kick five minutes later. 

The two Bury players then combined as the Blues went close to breaking the deadlock in the 38th minute, after racing onto a long ball through Maughn teed up Snaith just outside the box but the midfielder curled his shot just wide of the far post. 

And it could've been 1-0 to either side at half-time, with both sides having great chances to go in front - first Tom Gee's low ball found Ollie Snaith whose attempted curled shot towards the far corner was blocked, falling to forward Jack Turner whose volley was deflected crucially over for a corner in the 40th minute. 

But Barking were perplexed as to how they hadn't scored on the stroke of half-time as George Oyoke somehow just directed his free header wide from close range following a dangerous corner. 

The deadlock was broken by the visitors though three minutes after the restart as Besnik Gojani drove through down the right-hand side on the counter into the penalty area before cooly poking it past the advancing Stobbart into the far corner. 

The Bury goalkeeper however thwarted the away side with a terrific double save in the 56th minute, denying captain Abdullah Charfi both from the penalty spot then shovelling behind his shot on the rebound from point blank range after Joe White had brought down Rahimo Charfi. 

From the resulting corner, Bury almost caught Barking on the break as Jack Turner's 25-yard shot was well saved by Tyler Richards off his line well to beat it away.

Goalscorer Besnik Gojani arguably missed a great opportunity to double Barking's lead on the hour mark, directing his free header from Rahimo Charfi's cross just wide of the bottom near corner. 

Although it was 0-2 to the visitors two minutes later as a cross into the Bury box was inadvertently headed into his own net by Ollie Snaith at the near post. 

But in quick fire fashion, Snaith made amends at the other end cancelling out his own goal in the 64th minute, after keeping the ball well deep in Barking's half, Clinton Frank cleverly threaded an exquisite ball, with the outside of his boot, through the defence to Snaith to neatly pass it past the keeper into the bottom left-hand corner.

That goal well and truly exploded the game into life, as Bury wiped out Barking's second half two goal advantage completely twelve minutes from time as a low ball in towards Turner was cleared as far as Ben Haddoch in acres of space from 12-yards out, who cooly dispatched it home into the bottom left-hand corner. 

It was almost the complete turnaround from Bury's perspective in the 82nd minute as Cook's sumptuous cross found Joe White standing next to the far post whose dangerous header across goal found Turner, but his shot was deflected just wide into the side netting. 

Five minutes later, Turner nearly added his name to the score-sheet as he could only sidefoot Ryan Stafford's audacious first time cross into the danger area just over the crossbar from close range. 

But just in stoppage time, a bullet header from Charlie Cook ensured the Blues would pick up their second consecutive win of the season, as Ben Haddoch's pinpoint corner found Cook peeling away free to the near post to head home the crucial fifth goal of the night into the top corner.

That goal finishing a cracking game to open the Blues' 2021-22 Isthmian League Development North home campaign, in which arguably neither side deserved to lose. Bury's Under-23's are next in action on Tuesday 19th October when they travel to Bowers & Pitsea and will be back at The Ram on Monday 1st November when they host Haringey Borough, whilst the Under-18s travel to Ely City this coming Thursday and are back at Ram Meadow on Monday 18th against local rivals Walsham Le Willows.

A fair draw on the balance of play sees Needham record their fifth straight league draw at home to Redditch United courtesy of Jake Dye's equaliser.

Kevin Horlock again made 8 changes to the starting eleven from Tuesday's League Challenge Cup tie at Royston as Marcus Garnham returned between the sticks, Kyle Hammond came in at right-back (moving Jake Dye over to left-back), Daniel Morphew (captain in Keiran Morphew's absence) partnered Hugh Cullum, on his home full first team (as well as league) debut, at the heart of the defence. Byron Lawrence returned in central midfield along with Noah Collard, Callum Page & Luke Ingram also returned to the forward line - joined by new signing Emmanuel Machaya on his Needham debut. 

And whilst it was Marcus Garnham that Match Sponsor Paul Munn chose as his Man Of The Match, it easily could've been anyone in Needham Red and the afternoon almost got off to the perfect start just eight minutes in when Jake Dye's fierce low cross across the six yard box just evaded Machaya. 

Whilst at the other end a crucial goal-line clearance from Byron Lawrence denied Redditch from diverting a corner into the net in the eleventh minute.

But had it not been for a strong save from Boucher, Machaya would've marked his Needham debut in perfect fashion eight minutes later. Noah Collard's sumptuous long ball released the former with just the keeper to beat, but his low shot was beaten behind well by the shot-stopper down at his near post. 

Straight down the other end, a strong save from Marcus Garnham denied Redditch, whilst Ben Fowkes' good low shot was well held by Boucher down to his right.

Both sides had enough chances to win the game, but neither were able to do so, with both goalkeepers were tested once more a minute apart. Daniel Sweeney's shot from a tight angle from inside the box first forced the diving Marcus Garnham to help the ball wide of his far post on 28 minutes, just prior to a neat one-two between Fowkes and Machaya ended in the former's thumped shot towards the near post beaten behind for a corner by Boucher again down to his near right-hand post. 

Nassunculo was next to drive through into the box and test the Needham keeper, but again his low shot was well saved by Garnham down to his right-hand side on 32 minutes, coming just before Needham broke quickly down the other end as Luke Ingram took the ball past Boucher onto the byline only to see his shot graze the woodwork on it's way over. 

Four minutes later though, Byron Lawrence's corner just evaded Daniel Morphew and Machaya sliding in inside the six yard box, with the aforementioned striker then shooting narrowly wide from close range. 

Shortly before the break, Ben Fowkes went agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock, the forward weaved inside dangerously inside the box, only to see his low shot go just wide of the bottom near corner, kissing the outside side netting.

Early into the second half, Needham - especially Callum Page caused Redditch a few problems inside the opening ten minutes after the restart. First it was the aforementioned former Academy graduate who found Byron Lawrence outside the box, the latter did well to find space and sneak a good low shot at goal, only to see Boucher behind it on 52 minutes.

Soon after, Page then drove forward and went for goal himself, but shot wide of the right-hand post. The attacking minded youngster then drove through inside the box again in the 54th minute, but this time his squared ball across towards Machaya forced defender Cox to clear it just over his own crossbar. 

On the hour mark, having cut inside well onto the edge of the box, Needham forward Ben Fowkes was next to see his low shot just gathered by Boucher as both teams searched for the opener. 

And it was Redditch who broke the deadlock in the 66th minute, Daniel Sweeney's free-kick from just outside the box cleverly went underneath the jumping wall, only to be denied by the legs of the diving Garnham as far as Jemmett-Hutson who was on hand to tap home the rebound into the empty net, 0-1. 

But Needham refused to let their unbeaten run of 4 consecutive league matches slip, courtesy of a very well worked equalising goal, which involved 3 Academy graduates, 13 minutes from time.

Callum Page neatly threaded substitute Tom Fitzgerald through inside the box, the midfielder then looked to fire his shot into the bottom far corner, requiring Boucher to dive down and tip it away. Only to fall as far as Jake Dye who did brilliantly to Squeeze home his fourth Needham goal from a tight angle into the unguarded net. 

Fitting of the Man Of The Match award, Marcus Garnham ensured the scores would remain that way in the 83rd minute, tipping a dangerous strike across goal just wide of his right-hand post. 

Needham travel to third from bottom Hitchin Town next Saturday, ahead of two straight home league encounters in the week following against Biggleswade Town (Tuesday 19th) and Rushall Olympic (Saturday 23rd).

A young Needham Market side showcased the great work the Academy have put in despite a 4-2 defeat in the League Challenge Cup at Royston Town. 

Manager Kevin Horlock made 8 changes from Saturday's draw with Barwell, rotating his side to both give players valuable minutes and Academy players first team experience. Goalkeeper Marcus Garnham, centre-backs Daniel Morphew & Keiran Morphew (who went off injured on Saturday), midfielders Byron Lawrence (injured) & Noah Collard were all given the night off whilst Callum Page, Luke Ingram & Kyle Hammond were rested on the bench with just Jake Dye (who skippered the side moving back to his more familiar right-back berth), Josh Pollard (who started at the heart of the defence) & Ben Fowkes. Competitive first team debuts were handed to Academy players Hugh Cullum (centre-back), Charlie Warren (left-back), Taylor Clark (midfield, the trio all Under-18) & Ben Harris (winger/forward). Academy goalkeeper Owen Elsdon was also handed his competitive first team appearance, whilst another academy product Tom Fitzgerald (midfield) made his first start for the first team. Tariq Issa (midfield) & Jose Santa (forward) completed the starting eleven, with yet another academy product Kai Fletcher (striker) also on the bench.

Needham, sporting their navy blue third kit, were by far the better side first half and duly went in front in the ninth minute. After being found by Jake Dye, Ben Fowkes drove through well into the box exploiting space to smash a great strike home across goal, crashing in off the inside of the bottom left-hand post.  

Ten minutes later, Needham had a chance to double their lead as Jose Santa retained possession before driving forward only to fire over the crossbar. 

But at the other end, a great save from Owen Elsdon kept Needham in front after 21 minutes, Matthew Bateman's shot from outside the box was beaten away well by the shot-stopper. 

His opposite number, Oliver Williams, however prevented Needham from doubling their lead in the 23rd minute, after great play saw Taylor Clark pick out Ben Fowkes with a pinpoint crossfield ball, the goalscorer then cut inside well and shot similarly to his goal but this time he was denied by the legs of the diving Williams. 

Tariq Issa meanwhile curled a decent shot-cross wide of the far post five minutes later, whilst superb goalkeeping from Williams thwarted Santa from doubling Needham's lead on the half-hour mark. 

The latter drove through with just Williams to beat, but the keeper narrowed the angle down well off his line to slide out and gather the low shot. 

Ben Fowkes then saw his shot-cross deflected behind for a corner, before the forward saw what would've been his second goal denied by the offside flag on 36 minutes. 

Tariq Issa's corner was poked goalwards by Josh Pollard, which required a diving save from Williams to parry away as far as the offside Ben Fowkes to poke home. 

Five minutes before the break, the woodwork denied Needham a second goal as a 25-yard Tariq Issa free-kick was deflected as it wrong footed the defender on the line, swerving back into play off the post and just evading Ben Harris lurking from point blank range. 

However, shortly before the break Harris' night ended prematurely due to injury as Kai Fletcher came on in his place. 

The second half saw Royston much more invigorated, having also brought on Scott Bridges in place of Ryan Towner - with the substitute going onto have an impact for the visitors during the second half. 

First a corner from the home side was punched away well by Elsdon up to his far corner a minute after the restart, just prior to the Needham shot stopper making a good save to deny Harry Draper's low shot down well at his near post.

Home skipper Adam Murray meanwhile could only direct his diving header from the aforementioned substitute Bridge's free-kick in the 48th minute, though it was a clever Needham counter-attack that saw the visitors double their lead after 52 minutes. 

Kai Fletcher latched onto a long ball through ahead of the onrushing Williams, the striker then shot low at the bottom corner only to be denied by the defender guarding the net - although he could only poke it away as far as Ben Fowkes to empathically pick sweep home his brace low down the middle of the the gaping net. 

But that lead was halved back down to one in the 59th minute as Bridge's corner picked out Adam Murray in acres of space at the back post whose header went over the line despite the best efforts of the Needham defender. 

Had it not been for a goal saving header off the line from Tariq Issa the same combination would've drawn Royston level in the 64th minute, this time the centre back's towering header was denied by the well placed midfielder guarding the far post. 

Needham's advantage was wiped out however on 69 minutes as a mistake from Josh Pollard saw the defender give possession away to Isaac Galliford just outside the box to fire home just past Elsdon into the bottom right-hand corner.

And a strong save from Williams prevented Needham from retaking the lead on 82 minutes as Callum Page's stunning fierce strike from distance swerved towards the top corner - forcing a strong save from the home 'stopper. 

Four minutes later, Royston went in front for the first time as substitute Brandon Adams was slotted through inside the box down the left-hand side by Bateman to fire home ferociously into the top far corner. 

The home sides sealed their passage through to the next round three minutes into stoppage time in similar fashion to the first as a free header for Adamurray from Bridge's corner completed the scoring in a 4-2 win for the Crows. 

The Marketmen though returned to Suffolk proud of their performance, with the young lads especially impressing - notably Charlie Warren who was voted as Man Of The Match. Horlock's side are back in home action on Saturday when they welcome Redditch United to Bloomfields at the slightly earlier time of 2:30pm, for which the club advises anyone attending to arrive early with the high street being blocked off shortly after 1pm.

Needham Market Women make club history with the teams first ever Vitality Women's FA Cup victory in their first home tie in the competition.

Needham responded from last weekend's defeat in the league in style against a good spirited side who play two leagues below them, taking just three minutes to have the first chance of the afternoon with Lois Balfour firing just wide of the bottom right-hand corner.

And it was the striker who broke the deadlock for the Reds a minute later. After being threaded through by Jo Brawn, Balfour smashed home the opener into the top right-hand corner.

It was quickly 2-0 to Needham in the ninth minute as Jo Brawn ran through free onto the edge of the box where the attacker cooly finished past the goalkeeper into the bottom right-hand corner.

Following a couple of decent saves from the 'keeper within the following 5 minutes, the Sprowston stopper then denied Lois Balfour's first time strike well on 18 minutes. 

But it was almost 3-0 to Needham a minute later as Jodie Sharp's great cross found Jo Brawn with space to shoot but the goalscorer could only shoot over the crossbar.

The one way traffic continued as Needham did triple their lead in the 23rd minute, Jo Brawn picking up her second of the game as she chested down Lois Balfour's free-kick to then thump the ball home into the top left-hand corner. 

In rapid fire fashion, Needham almost added a fourth as Lina Naglib chested the ball down well just outside the box before seeing her volley go just over, grazing the top of the crossbar. 

Just a minute after the restart though, Naglib was found free by Sharp's great low pass but this time fired just over the crossbar. 

Naglib was arguably unlucky to have not got herself on the score-sheet again ten minutes later, as her free header from Balfour's pinpoint free-kick went straight at the goalkeeper. 

And deservedly so, the former did extend her side's lead in the 57th minute, sweeping home Jodie Sharp's cutback first time into the bottom corner, 4-0 Needham. 

On the hour mark, Needham hit five as Abbie Fisher fired a rocket of a strike home from 25-yards out into the top left-hand corner. 

Jo Brawn meanwhile was just centimetres away from getting her hat-trick eight minutes later though as she just couldn't get on the end of Balfour's brilliant low ball in across the face of goal. From the follow up though Sharp saw her low shot from a tight angle denied well by the goalkeeper, whilst Nia Evans' 25-yarder on the rebound went just over via the top of the crossbar. 

Sprowston on the other hand got themselves on the score-sheet to mark their debut in the competition in the 74th minute as a great finish from their number 10 across goal dipped superbly into the bottom far corner. 

Eight minutes later however, a great save from the visiting keeper denied Jo Brawn a hat-trick. The forward's great strike from inside the box looked destined to nestle past the keeper and into the far corner had it not been for the stopper tipping the ball onto the inside of the far post and agonisingly back into play. 

The win puts Needham in the hat for the final (3rd) Qualifying Round, in which they'll face Women's National League Division One South East outfit Billericay Town at home on October 24th, but not before they welcome Biggleswade United to Bloomfields next Sunday.

Moreton Hall Ferals advance to the third round of the Bury Sunday Snap On Tools Open Cup with a good 5-0 win over a spirited young Thurston outfit.

With it being second in Division Four up against top of Division One, you'd be forgiven if you expected a onesided affair, though Thurston gave them a good test regardless of the scoreline.

But it was Ferals who had the majority of the chances with Callum Dove going close with less than a minute played as the forward drove through with just the onrushing 'keeper to beat but could only lift his shot just over the crossbar.

The visitors went close again a minute later as Dan Allen's dangerous curling cross into the six yard box was just behind Billy Peck.

And the chances kept coming for Ferals as in the third minute Charlie Glover was threaded through past the defence, only to see his low finessed shot go just wide into the side netting from close range.

Nine minutes later, Ferals broke the deadlock as the ball fell to Dan Allen inside the six yard box, who poked home a great finish into the bottom near corner. 

Courtesy of a well worked goal, Ferals were 2-0 up after 32 minutes as super sub Ben Newdick made an instant impact, heading home in space from a corner.

Early in the second half, Aston Fallows had to be alert to deny Archie Norman from getting a shot at goal - the Ferals stopper reacting well to clear the danger after the hosts' forward had blocked his clearance. 

But five minutes into the second half Ferals added a third to pretty much seal their psssage through to the next round, as Jack Whiting-Noakes threaded Callum Dove through well to finish cooly past the 'keeper and into the bottom left-hand corner

Callum Dongray then tried his luck with what would've been a superb finish in the 58th minute, as his long range strike from Reece Gooderham's clearance went wide of the empty net.

Shortly after that, Dongray almost extended the visitor's lead - smashing just wide of the bottom far corner. 

Fred Stewart-Hogg's point blank range shot from Dan Allen's cross-shot was denied by Gooderham in the 67th minute before Ben Newdick fired fiercely into the goalkeeper's midrift after 71 minutes.

Ferals made their chances count though two minutes later as Callum Dongray smashed home his side's fourth into the bottom corner, after Harry Whiting-Noakes' close range shot was parried away by the 'keeper.

And in quick succession, Ferals netted a fifth goal on 75 minutes as Callum Dove netted his second of the morning past the onrushing Gooderham into the bottom right-hand corner. 

Had it not been for a well placed defender, Dove could've had a hat-trick nine minutes later. After nodding the ball past Gooderham well off his line, Dove looked to squeeze the ball home from a tight angle only to be denied by the defender stood in front of the near post.

Callum Dongray briefly thought he had extended his side lead soon after, but his arrowed shot into the bottom corner was ruled out for a push by the visiting player.

A dangerous corner from Lewis Kemp meanwhile caused Thurston's defence problems three minutes from time as it went dangerously across the face of goal and just wide of the far post. 

Ferals are in cup action again next weekend when they travel to Bedricks Worth in a Knights Lowe Division One Knock Out Cup Quarter-Final clash, whilst Thurston travel to Stowmarket United in the same stage of the Days Sports Division Four Knock Out Cup.

Needham Market pick up another frustrating draw as their search for their first league win of the season continues.

Kevin Horlock made two changes to the draw at Stourbridge as Callum Sturgess' suspension meant captain Keiran Morphew came back into the side from injury. As a result, Kyle Hammond switched to right-back and Jake Dye to left-back, with Josh Pollard moving to central midfield and Tariq Issa dropping to the bench with Callum Page regaining his starting spot. 

For the first hour or so of the afternoon, the Marketmen enjoyed much more of the possession, having plenty of chances which could've put them out of sight. 

The first chance for the hosts fell in just the eighth minute as Ben Fowkes' low driven shot was well held by Bramley at his near post with Luke Ingram running in. 

A stunning save from the aforementioned Barwell goalkeeper denied Needham what would've been a stunning opening goal three minutes later, as Byron Lawrence's audacious curling strike was dipping into the top far corner had it not been for the flying Bramley tipping it over the crossbar.

Barwell's only real chance in the first half however saw Stephens find space just outside the box to shoot at goal but tamely as he fired wide of the bottom right-hand corner in the 15th minute.

Up the other end, Byron Lawrence tested the visiting keeper again in the 17th minute as his low shoot from just outside the box was just kept out by Bramley down to his left. Seven minutes later though, clever play from Needham almost saw Needham make their dominance count as Jose Santa was threaded through by Jake Dye just outside the box, the former did well to squeeze a low shot through only to see Bramley behind it. 

Just before the hour mark though, a vital header behind by the defender prevented an almost certain header on goal from Callum Page's dangerous in-swinging corner, whilst Byron Lawrence's pinpoint right-wing free-kick was glanced just wide of the far post by Jake Dye in the 36th minute.

And two minutes later, Needham were deservedly in front as Luke Ingram smashed home a beauty for his fifth league goal of the season - hitting a sumptuous 25-yarder in off the inside of the bottom right-hand post and into the opposite corner.

It arguably could've been 2-0 to the home side on 42 minutes Jake Dye after being threaded through in space by Callum Page saw his outswinginging curling cross towards the goal-line rebound off the top of the crossbar just evading Ingram at the back post as it rebounded behind.  

But it was 2-0 just three minutes after the restart courtesy of another well worked goal, Byron Lawrence saw off a foul on the half-w2ay line to cleverly thread Callum Page racing through on goal, who beat his defender to it as he bore down on goal into the box. His shot beat the keeper for power as he could only watch as his low strike deflected off the stopper, looping over him into the net.

Needham could've practically out of sight on 50 minutes though as Page found Jake Dye free inside the box, the left-back then curled home an outrageous strike into the top left-hand corner, only to discover he was offside. 

Four minutes later, another good low strike from Byron Lawrence saw Bramley just hold on down at his near post, before Callum Page was centimetres away from tapping home fellow Academy Graduate Noah Collard's brilliant powerful low ball across the face of goal on 64 minutes.

Six minutes later, another recent Needham academy graduate, Jose Santa went equally close to making contact to Page's low ball across - proving pivotal with Barwell then going onto half the deficit on 76 minutes as Nisevic was in space at the back post to tap home Stephen's low ball across the face of goal into an empty net.

A crucial stop from Bramley however thwarted Byron Lawrence from restoring his side's two goal lead three minutes later as the midfielder's exquisite right wing free-kick was bending into the top far corner until the Barwell stopper dived across to beat it away.

Visiting substitute Liam Powell then broke Needham hearts nine minutes from time as he snatched a point for Barwell, having exploited space inside the box he finished cooly across goal into the bottom far corner. 

Three minutes into stoppage time, a vital deflection from a defender denied Noah Collard from an almost certain match winner. After being found by Kyle Hammond, the midfielder's first time curling strike looked to have Bramley beaten had it not been blocked by the defender.

Needham's search for their first league win of the season continued as the Marketmen now switch focus to Tuesday's Southern League Challenge Cup 2nd Round trip to divisional rivals Royston Town.

Needham Market Under-18s maintain their long unbeaten league record with a clinical 8-0 away victory at Ipswich Wanderers. 

The win makes it 4 wins and a draw from the young Reds' five league outings thus far in 2021-22, which currently puts them top of the Thurlow Nunn Youth League Central Division. 

But it was hosts Wanderers who started the brighter, with saves from Ewan Johnson keeping them out, with the first seeing Crozier-Flats' well hit low strike denied by the legs of the Needham goalkeeper in the first minute. 

Evan Hubbard meanwhile then drew a good diving save from Johnson in the seventh minute, as the home man's low shot to Johnson's left-hand post was well gathered by the visiting shot-stopper. 

Brosnan Jarrett went close for Wanderers four minutes later as he fired just over the crossbar from just outside the box. 

However, Needham grew into the contest well, as Archie Shelley's long ball released forward Seth Chambers free down the left wing who shrugged off his defender well to whip a sumptuous ball into the six yard box which just went over the head of Taylor Clark on 14 minutes. 

And six minutes later, Needham went in front courtesy of some excellent clinical play as the cutback found Seth Chambers free from the penalty spot to simple sweep home into the bottom left-hand corner, 1-0 to the visitors. 

Needham went close to quickly doubling their lead in the 22nd minute as some great play from Dimitri Gayle saw Archie Exworth run onto the ball and poke it past the defender to run onto the byline where his dangerous low ball across needed kicking away for a throw in by the goalkeeper on his goal-line. Shortly after which, Exworth fired just over from distance - before Needham fired just wide of the bottom right-hand corner a minute later.

Just after the half-hour mark, Charlie Warren went close to doubling his side's lead, hitting a right-wing free-kick which nearly crept into the net but instead into the side netting.

An excellent finish from Dimitri Gayle did double Needham's lead though, capitalising on the goal-kick falling short to the forward who cleverly chipped the goalkeeper to find the back of the net, 2-0 after 32 minutes.

In quickfire fashion, Gayle racked up a quick brace for him and Needham's third as the forward fired home after being fed through inside the box to find the top corner- proving too powerful for the keeper to keep out. 

Looking for his hat-trick, Gayle nearly got it six minutes before the break as he fired just over from 25 yards out.

But it was Wanderers who had the final chance of the first half, shooting just over the crossbar in the 40th minute.

Three minutes after the restart though it was nearly four nil to the young Reds as Seth Chambers turned well before dipping a great strike just over the top left-hand corner.

Wanderers on the other hand went close to reducing the deficit as Brosnan Jarrett fired just wide of the bottom right-hand corner on 53 minutes.

A minute later though a fantastic finish from Charlie Warren gave Needham a four-nil lead as the left-back weaved through brilliantly before smashing home into the bottom right-hand corner.

A flying save from Ewan Johnson however preserved Needham's clean sheet in the fifty-seventh minute as he tipped over Emille Dozzell's shot just over his crossbar. 

Fresh of the bench, Needham substitute Will Smith almost got on the end of an exquisite left-wing cross from Seth Chambers just shy of the hour mark, before fellow substitute Clayton Osborn did just that a minute later - making it 5-0 in the process.  

Chambers had the freedom of the left wing as he squared it across the face of goal finding Osborn free at the back post to tap into the empty top left-hand corner from 5-yards out.

Osborn then returned the favour for Chambers in the 63rd minute, but the striker was offside as he tapped home at the near post into the bottom right-hand corner. 

Just seconds later, Chambers was again threaded through free inside the box, but this time his shot was deflected behind the right-hand post for a corner. 

The visitors added a sixth on 64 minutes following a well worked corner - Charlie Warren's set-piece found Archie Simpson in space from close range who guided his header home into the roof of the net. 

In agonising fashion, Dimitri Gayle almost sealed his hat-trick in the 75th minute, smashing just wide of the bottom right-hand corner from inside the box. 

Seth Chambers meanwhile could only head a brilliant Gayle cross just wide of the top far corner soon after, whilst Wanderers shot just over with 78 minutes on the clock. 

The latter then went close to adding to both his individual and team's goal tallies a minute later, firing narrowly wide of the bottom far corner before Clayton Osborn added another outstanding finish to the young Reds' evening haul. 

Pressure from Chambers forced the keeper to rush his clearance straight to Osborn free from distance to curl home a beautiful strike into the empty top left-hand corner, 7-0 in style after 82 minutes.

Had it not been for a terrific save from Sam Prior, Chambers would've added to his side's healthy advantage, after being found by a great cross from Dimitri Gayle, the striker cleverly lifted the ball over the defender's head to then poke towards the roof of the net but for the goalkeeper to tip it over for a corner on 84 minutes.

Flynn Crosthwaite then fired a great strike just over shortly after, before Chambers rounded off the scoring in the penultimate minute with another well executed goal.

This time it was Sergio Asemota who found Chambers free in space at the back post whose great touch allowed the latter to finish well - nestling just in the bottom left-hand corner with perfection, 8-0.

The two teams will meet again at Bloomfields in the reverse fixture on Tuesday.

PENALTY HEARTBREAK ENDS BURY'S FA YOUTH CUP JOURNEY

Goals from Ben Haddoch and Tom Pinyoun had Bury in a comfortable 2-0 lead before Felixstowe battled back to win on penalties.

Bury Town Under-18s end up on the wrong end of the penalty shootout lottery for the second straight week as their FA Youth Cup journey ends at the 2nd Qualifying Round. 

But from the young Blues' perspective, the night got off to the best possible start as Ben Haddoch gave them a twelfth minute lead. The attacking midfielder exploited space well just outside the box to unleash a ferocious low strike which crashed into the bottom far corner via the inside of the right-hand post- his third goal of the campaign, 1-0 Bury.

Ten minutes later, Angus Mills went close to extending the hosts' lead, the captain though fired just over the top left-hand corner from just outside the box, whilst a good save from Felixstowe goalkeeper Kieran Button denied Jack Turner on the half-hour mark.

Max Willcox drove forward into space where he teed up the striker in space inside the penalty area, but his low shot from a tight angle towards the far post was kicked over well by the diving 'keeper guarding his near left-hand post. 

The chances kept coming for the young Blues though as Ben Haddoch whipped a dangerously positioned free-kick just over the top left-hand corner on 33 minutes. That meanwhile was closely followed by the midfielder's short free-kick to Tom Pinyoun, from which the latter's shot was blocked as far as the free head of Willcox who could only direct it into Button's chest three minutes later. 

Shortly after that though, Bury went agonisingly close to doubling their lead as Angus Mills' squared the ball across on a plate for Tom Pinyoun sliding free at the far post went just behind the creative midfielder as Bury lead 1-0 at the interval. 

And it was quickly 2-0 to Bury just three minutes after the restart as Tom Pinyoun placed an exquisite bending strike home into the bottom right-hand corner for his seventh goal of the season.

Bury looked quite comfortable at 2-0 up, but credit to Felixstowe who put up a tough fight and didn't give up - forcing a good instinctive save from Bury goalkeeper Joe Wilson in the 55th minute. A dangerous cutback found a visiting man free on the right-hand side in the box, whose first time shot towards the top corner was well caught by the well positioned shot-stopper at his near post.

Felixstowe then went close the following minute as they flashed a dangerous corner across the six yard box nd just wide of the bottom far corner, whilst Bury went equally as close to adding a third goal in the 57th minute.

Jack Hurrell's dangerous low inviting ball across the face of goal just evaded Tom Pinyoun arriving free from point blank range, whilst a role reversal from the rebound saw the former just unable to divert Pinyoun's low ball into the gaping net. 

The chances continued to come for Bury, but they just couldn't quite make them count as Jack Turner headed Angus Mills' sumptuous gross narrowly wide of the far post.

Felixstowe however went up the other end and halved the deficit just shy of the hour mark, as Marcus Curtis' right-hand cross was chested inadvertently into his own far corner by Utting, whilst substitute Zane Robinson was well placed to preserve Bury's lead by clearing a tap in at the far post off the goal-line on 66 minutes. 

Back up the other end though, Max Willcox could only glance his good free header into Button's chest from Robinson's free-kick, before Tom Pinyoun saw his shot blocked from Angus Mills' cutback. 

With both sides searching for the game's pivotal fourth goal, Max Willcox went agonisingly close to providing it in the 76th minute as the Bury youngster drove forward onto the edge of the box only to fire just wide of the bottom corner.

Hearts were in Bury mouths however a minute later when Tommy Smith shot just wide at the back post from a dangerous corner, after which it was Felixstowe who just survived conceding four minutes from stoppage time as Tom Pinyoun fired just over the crossbar from 18-yards out.

And a minute into stoppage time, Felixstowe took the tie to penalties as Brett Smy slid in in space at the back post, to meet a low left wing cross, looping it home into the bottom far corner via the inside of the post. 

Bury however still could've won the tie three minutes into stoppage time as Clinton Frank's squared ball across the face of goal saw Angus Mills' sliding hook back across goal go just a centimetre in front of the left-hand post with nobody around to provide the final touch. 

With that though, the tie went to penalties with Felixstowe taking first. Darius Petrea got the shootout underway for the visitors, just beating Wilson as he converted into the bottom left-hand corner. 

Captain Angus Mills took the responsibility of Bury's first penalty, levelling it up after one kick each as the forward put enough pace on it to find the top left-hand corner, despite Button getting two hands to it. 

Ethan Turner-Wilson stepped up next for the Seasiders and empathically sent Wilson the wrong way finding the bottom left-hand corner. 

Clinton Frank though levelled it up with Bury's second, showing ice cold confidence as he passed it past the rooted Button into the bottom right-hand corner. 

Scorer of Felixstowe's equaliser Brett Smy then scored in the shootout, just placing his out of reach of Wilson into the bottom left-hand corner, before striker Jack Turner empathically beat Button as he found the bottom right-hand corner. 

Seb Goodhand scored Felixstowe's fourth, placing cooly past Wilson into the bottom left-hand corner, with Kieran Button backing that up by beating away Zane Robinson's spot-kick diving towards his middle right-hand corner. 

That left it to Kurt Warren to win it for the visitors, which is he duly did, firing past Wilson into the top right-hand corner to book Felixstowe's spot in the next round. 

The young Blues are back in league action on Monday 4th October when they host Newmarket Town, kick off 7:45pm.

Moreton Hall Ferals extend their 100% league start to the 2021-22 season to 4 games with a 3-2 home win over Occold. 

But it was Occold who had the first notable opportunity after just 40 seconds, though covering goalkeeper Charlie Larter was well positioned to beat away a powerful strike towards his top right-hand corner. 

Ferals though did have more of the chances which started with Kieran Twinn's dancing footwork forcing the defender to concede a corner close to goal, from which Casey Underwood looped his header narrowly over from Jake Peasgood's set piece in the fifth minute.

The home side then went close four minutes later as Callum Dove found space to shoot inside the box, only to hit just wide into the side netting, whilst Joe Greenslade-Cross' low powerful free-kick from out on the right wing required 'keeper Charlie Cook to get down well to his near post to beat it away, 0-0 still after just 12 minutes.

Jake Peasgood however almost picked out Kieran Twinn with a dangerous cutback which went just over the diving head of the forward in space from close range in the 16th minute. 

But the former did find Twinn with a good corner five minutes later as the latter's stooping header at the bottom right-hand corner was well held by Cook. 

At the other end, Jeremy Bones forced two decent saves out of Ferals deputising 'keeper Charlie Larter - this first forcing a good low diving save from the keeper, before the second saw strong hands from the club captain to hold the dipping strike just underneath his crossbar just shy of the half-hour mark. 

Ferals arguably were unfortunate to not open the scoring after having the more of the chances, nearly doing just that in the 32nd minute as Kieran Twinn held up the ball well before cutting inside to shoot only to fire narrowly wide of the bottom right-hand corner. 

Two minutes later, Ferals' Harry Whiting-Noakes then threaded Callum doge through inside the box but the attacker's low shot was well blocked by the sliding defender. 

Occold meanwhile hit Ferals on the break against the run of play as Reece Palfrey found space on the right-hand side in the box to finish cooly into the bottom near corner, 0-1 ten minutes before the break. 

Unfazed by going a goal behind, Joe Greenslade-Cross had two efforts denied straight after. After the advantage was played following a foul on Harry Whiting-Noakes by Ryan Howe, Greenslade-Cross drove into the box where his first shot was blocked, whilst his second from a tight angle was turned away by a smart low save by Cook on his line. 

Occold to their credit did make some good chances and nearly doubled their lead on 38 minutes as Chris Brown shot just wide of the bottom right-hand corner from distance. 

Ferals on the other hand, almost made some excellent team play count, starting with a clever throw out by Larter to find Jake Peasgood who played a smart one-two with Callum Dove only to fire just over the crossbar from inside the box. 

Kieran Twinn then fired just wide of the bottom corner from 30-yards three minutes before the break, before Ferals did restore parity a minute later. 

Some good team play saw Greenslade-Cross lay the ball off to Jack Whiting-Noakes, who in turn returned it to the former in space just inside the box who chipped a great inviting ball over the defence finding Twinn free from close range, who finished it off in style with an exquisite first time volley into the bottom right-hand corner, 1-1. 

And early into the second half an excellent solo goal from Jake Peasgood put Ferals in front, the forward drove forward exploited space down the right-hand side in the area before rifling the ball past Cook into the bottom middle corner, 2-1 after 48 minutes. 

Eight minutes later, Ferals almost added to their lead when George Crowe's low dangerous ball across the face of goal just needed a boot on it to turn home from point blank range, but just evaded Twinn.

The chances kept coming though for Ferals as Callum Dove found space just outside the box, but fired his shot narrowly over the crossbar on 69 minutes, whilst Callum Dongray glanced his header just wide of the far post, from a curling in-swinging Peasgood corner five minutes later. 

But with 14 minutes left on the clock, Ferals added their third goal courtesy of some more good play as Kieran Twinn threaded Callum Dove through with a clever defence splitting pass as Dove went onto finish cooly into the bottom left-hand corner. 

Ferals went agonisingly close to extending their lead further just moments later as Kieran Twinn just couldn't get on the end of fellow goalscorer Jake Peasgood's dangerous ball across the face of goal from a yard out, before Dan Allen shot just wide into the side netting.

Occold though weren't quite out of the game yet, as the visitors reduced their hosts' lead to 3-2 ten minutes from time as Luke Keen's dangerous ball across the face of goal was tapped home by Ryan Howe from centimetres out. 

A crucial goal-line clearance though denied Ferals a fourth goal in the 85th minute as Greenslade-Cross' corner found Casey Underwood lurking from a yard out but his goalwards poke was denied by the defender. 

With the final chance of the morning soon after, Jake Peasgood almost put the result beyond any doubt as he fired a powerful shot just over the crossbar and onto the back stanchion. 

Ferals make it four straight league wins ahead of an Open Cup visit to Thurston next weekend. Occold meanwhile host Smiler in Division One.

Needham Market's Emirates FA Cup journey ends in defeat after a 3-2 reverse against East Thurrock United.

Needham Manager Kevin Horlock kept the same starting eleven that played in the original fixture on Saturday, though Callum Page and Kyle Hammond swapped the numbers 7 and 10 shirts respectively. There were however two changes to the substitutes bench, as Academy players Hugh Cullum and Charlie Warren were handed their first involvement in a competitive Matchday squad whilst Dan Morphew dropped from the bench due to injury. East Thurrock manager Paul Martin meanwhile made 2 changes, Fahad Nazor and Elliot Kettle were replaced in the Rocks' starting eleven by Rimmell Daniel & Danny Cossington. 

Needham started brightly with Kyle Hammond having the first chance in the fifth minute, the midfielder drove forward before his low 30-yarder forced a good save from Arthur Janata down to his right. 

Luke Ingram then had a great chance two minutes later, the forward weaved through cleverly onto the edge of the box only to see his ferocious strike go just over the top far left-hand corner. 

East Thurrock meanwhile went equally as close with their first chance in the tenth minute as Johnny Ashman fired a 20-yard strike just wide of the bottom left-hand corner, whilst Kehinde Aileru flashed a dangerous strike narrowly wide of the top far corner, from a tight angle inside the box three minutes later.

Seven minutes later East Thurrock went close with a carbon copy of Ashman's earlier chance, before down the other end Ben Fowkes' dangerous low ball across the face of goal needed gathering by Janata just after the half-hour mark.

With just over ten minutes left of the first half, Needham went agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock as Jake Dye's audacious ball across the face off goal just evaded the finishing touch it required.

Needham looked to make their good first half performance count as Luke Ingram threaded Ben Fowkes free inside the box only to see his shot denied by Janata sliding off his line to smother on 36 minutes.

Shortly after however, Jake Dye picked out Ingram with a brilliant first time right wing cross only for the latter to head it just wide of the top near corner.

But against the run of play, it was East Thurrock who broke the deadlock as Johnny Ashman was threaded through free down the right-hand side inside the box where he smashed home the opener into the bottom far corner on 38 minutes.

And the visitors added to the hosts' frustrations further by doubling their lead a minute before the interval, as Kehinde Aileru squared it on a plate for Ben Wyss to tap home from point blank range.

Following a cross-shot curling just wide of the top corner and a good save from Marcus Garnham within the opening seven minutes of the restart, Needham then went onto dominate the second half looking to quickly restore parity.

Before they did just that though on 55 minutes, Jake Dye threaded Luke Ingram through the defence who forced Janata to tip his shot from a tight angle just over at his near post.

And from the resulting corner, Needham halved the deficit from Byron Lawrence's resulting corner as Keiran Morphew's header on into the six yard box was poked home into the bottom left-hand corner by Josh Pollard for his second Needham goal.

That goal galvanized Needham as Ben Fowkes quickly saw his fierce shot fly just over the crossbar on 57 minutes, before the forward drew Needham back on level terms just ten minutes later. 

Having drawn Needham level in the original tie on Saturday, Fowkes repeated the feat again courtesy of a Luke Ingram assist. The latter's flick on from a long ball released last season's top scorer through one on one with the onrushing Janata who cooly slotted it past the goalkeeper into the bottom right-hand corner, 2-2. 

With momentum now firmly in their grasp, Needham went in search of the elusive fifth goal of the game on 69 minutes as Robinson blocked Jake Dye's shot before Noah Collard's rebound header went through to Janata to save.

Three minutes later, Janata quickly denied Needham twice in quick succession as they continued to probe for a third goal. After Callum Page's powerful shot from inside the box was parried away by Janata down to his left-hand side, the goalkeeper reacted well to get down low again to his left-hand side to punch behind Fowkes' shot from a tight angle. 

Skipper Keiran Morphew was next to go close for the Marketmen 16 minutes from full-time as the centre-back just couldn't get on the end of Byron Lawrence's dangerous corner from close range, whilst Callum Page's first time shot went just over the bar after 79 minutes.

That was Page's last involvement as he was replaced by fellow Needham Academy graduate Jose Santa and it wasn't long after that he created a great chance for the Reds. Santa started it by finding Collard who kept possession brilliantly before picking out Luke Ingram with an exquisite pinpoint crossfield ball, from which the latter's fierce shot was spilt by Janata. 

Horlock's side then went close twice in the 81st minute, first Collard fired just wide of the top right-hand corner, whilst Santa found Ingram who saw his shot from 16-yards blocked with Janata beaten. 

But against the run of play, it was East Thurrock who would go onto find a later winner seven minutes from time as Callum Page was adjudged to have fouled the visitors driving down the right-hand side in the box, which Alex Hernandez duly converted into the roof of the net. 

Needham though still could've sent the tie to extra time in stoppage time as Jake Dye agonisingly couldn't get to Byron Lawrence's free-kick standing on the far post, whilst Marcus Garnham couldn't quite get his head to another Lawrence corner three minutes later. 

And moments later with the final touch, Josh Pollard looked to latch onto a dangerous ball with the goal practically begging had he been able to keep it in play.

With that, East Thurrock booked their place in the next round in a fortnight's time, whilst Needham will now switch focus to an away trip to Stourbridge.

A late equaliser from Jose Santa rescued a deserved late point for Needham Market away at Stourbridge.

The substitute, who scored his first First Team league goal, could've gone onto win it soon after, as the Marketmen who ended with ten men arguably had the better of the chances - hitting the woodwork on a couple of occasions. 

Needham Market manager Kevin Horlock made two changes to Tuesday's FA Cup replay as Daniel Morphew returned from injury and took the armband in place of Keiran Morphew (hamstring injury), whilst Tariq Issa made his first competitive start since returning to the Marketmen in the summer as Callum Page dropped to the bench. 

With just six minutes on the clock, the Marketmen had the first chance of the afternoon as Kyle Hammond threaded Luke Ingram through down the right wing whose low cross in saw the defender's clearance deflect off Hammond but straight at the keeper from point blank range. 

Up the other end though, Marcus Garnham was forced into a great stop to deny the home side five minutes later, after Ben Usher-Shipway won back possession deep in his own half, the right-back drove forward where after a neat one two between him and Darryl Knights, the cross found Montel Gibson free at the back post only to see his header at the top left-hand corner beaten away well by the Needham goalkeeper.

Some solid defending from Jake Dye meanwhile denied the home side from testing Garnham from inside the box, tracking back well to deflect a decent strike behind for a corner in the 20th minute. 

Needham however were agonisingly denied by the woodwork four minutes later, having been laid off by Ben Fowkes, Callum Sturgess' sumptuous first time out-swinging cross picked out Luke Ingram whose glancing header looked destined to nestle into the bottom far corner only to rebound back into play off the inside base off the post. 

Albeit offside anyway, Ben Fowkes' dangerous first time shot from a dangerous Byron Lawrence free-kick forced a good save from the keeper from close range soon after, whilst Tariq Issa worked space well just outside the box only to fire just wide of the top far corner just before the half-hour mark.

Darryl Knights on the other hand looked to capitalise on a short back pass eight minutes later, but his low shot was comfortable for Garnham. The hosts meanwhile then found Montel Gibson in space with a low cross, who with the bottom right-hand corner gaping saw his shot blocked strongly by Daniel Morphew. From the resulting rebound though, Usher-Shipway cut inside only to fire over the crossbar to conclude an even first half.

Into the second half, the majority of the better chances fell the way of the visitors from Suffolk, with the first arriving 13 minutes after the restart when Ben Fowkes weaves dangerously just inside the box only to fire narrowly over. 

Two minutes later, substitute Callum Page won possession back well inside his own half, the Ipswich Town loaner and former Needham Academy Graduate then drove forward finding Fowkes, who in turn teed up Kyle Hammond inside the box though the later could only fire over the crossbar.

And with 24 minutes left, Hammond got the ball off Fowkes inside the hosts' box, but this time shot narrowly wide of the bottom right-hand corner. 

The aforementioned Needham midfielder then turned provider as some excellent skill saw Hammond weave through dangerously onto the left-hand byline, where his clever dinked cross is flicked away vitally by the defender with Page lurking behind him as the score remained 0-0 despite the best efforts of the visitors with 19 minutes remaining.

Needham though were forced to dig in deep and displayed a lot of character after Callum Sturgess was shown a straight red card in the 72nd minute following an off the ball incident. 

And arguably against the run of play in the second forty-five minutes, Stourbridge broke the deadlock three minutes later as the hosts' Academy graduate and substitute Daniel Gyasi was on hand from point blank range to tap home a dangerous low ball across the face of goal.

Needham though instantly went straight back onto the front foot in the 77th minute as Callum Page's low ball was smothered by goalkeeper Charlie Price on his line, which went as far to the leaping Luke Ingram whose powerful free 18-yard header needed a defender on the line to head onto the underside of the crossbar and back into play. 

Daniel Morphew though made two strong blocks to deny Stourbridge, one especially a goal stopping tackle, as Jose Santa went down the other end and drew the away side back on level terms with 6 minutes left on the clock. 

The Needham academy graduate got his first league first team goal as Ingram's low cross was blocked as far as the substitute who thumped a great finish home into the top left-hand corner, 1-1!

And the young forward almost had his third first team Needham goal two minutes later, as Needham looked to grab a late winner. Santa on this occasion was threaded through free one on one with Price, whose poked shot towards the far bottom right-hand cc corner was diverted just wide by the outstretched hand of the home 'keeper. 

With a point the least the Marketmen deserved, Jake Dye went close to potentially making it all 3 from the resulting corner as Lawrence's set piece just evaded the full-back running in. 

Overall, another point on the board for Horlock's side, who move above Nuneaton into 19th place, with that much deserved league win still proving elusive. Up next for the Marketmen is a Suffolk Derby on Tuesday as they travel to Leiston.
