Needham Market Under-18s go top of the Thurlow Nunn Youth League Central Division following their third win out of four league matches, after a good performance on the road at Hadleigh United, resulting in a 6-0 victory.
The young Reds wasted little time before breaking the deadlock as Harry Blackburn got his first of his three goals on the night after just three minutes as Harry Blackburn arrowed home a well hit fierce strike into the bottom far corner.
Dimitri Gayle then tested the goalkeeper three minutes later, but Hadleigh stopper was able to smother the low strike, whilst a Hadleigh header on target from a free-kick was caught by Fred Mallet in the visiting goal up the other end.
Gayle then drove forward on the counter, although the forward could only fire into the side netting. The Needham forward then earned the visitors a corner in the 12th minute as Gayle's low strike was deflected as the goalkeeper guarding his near post helped it behind for a corner.
The resulting set-piece however found captain Dillon Olias who looped his header narrowly obet the crossbar.
Charlie Warren meanwhile was next to test goalkeeper Owen Grimley as the left-back's low 25-yard strike was saved by the shot-stopper, before Warren's dangerous cross in the 25th minute just evaded the leaping Dimitri Gayle by an inch.
It was 2-0 though to the young Marketmen on the half-hour mark, as Warren's shot from just outside the box was parried away by Grimley down to his left, with the rebound falling to Harry Blackburn to leap like a salmon and direct a bullet header home from close range, to double both his own and his team's tally.
And in quickfire fashion it was 4-0 to the away side before the break courtesy of 2 goals in as many minutes as Archie Shelley ducked well at the back post to direct a strong header home into the bottom right-hand corner from a Charlie Warren corner to make it 3-0 on 39 minutes.
Great team play then made it 4-0 to Needham shortly after as Archie Simpson fired home into the bottom left-hand corner, via a hand off the diving goalkeeper, following Harry Blackburn's cutback.
Just thirty seconds after the restart, Needham went close to adding to their lead further as Charlie Warren fed Dimitri Gayle free inside the box whose ferocious strike from a tight angle flew just wide into the side netting.
Moments later though it was high fives for the young Reds, with Harry Blackburn sealing his hat-trick as Dimitri Gayle's cross hung up in the air perfectly for Blackburn to again provide the finishing touch to towering head it home into the gaping net from point blank range.
The hat-trick hero meanwhile went close to adding further to his team's tally on 51 minutes as Blackburn fired an inch over the crossbar from just inside the box.
Whilst three minutes later, Needham Substitute Sergio Asemota went agonisingly close to marking his Under-18 debut with a deserved goal as the latter cut inside smartly before firing a great strike just an inch wide of the bottom corner.
The chances continued to fall to the away side as Perez Sanchez fired a ferocious strike just an inch over the top corner on 61 minutes, whilst the offside flag ruled out a sixth Needham goal a minute later.
After Harry Blackburn's back-heel towards Magic Smalls was partially cleared, the ball fell to Blackburn whose fierce strike was sliced into the net by the defender on the goal-line, although chalked off by the assistant's flag.
A good save from Grimley meanwhile denied Dimitri Gayle a goal his performance arguably deserved on 71 minutes, as the forward's ferocious half-volley forced the stopper to tip it just over his crossbar. From the resulting set piece, Ben Smith went agonisingly close to adding to his side's lead, as the substitute chested Magic Smalls' dangerous corner just an inch wide of the near post from point blank range.
Then as the game began to enter the final six minutes, Sergio Asemota went close once more to getting his name on the score sheet as the forward flashed his great strike just an inch wide of the bottom right-hand corner, before the visitors then rounded off the scoring on 87 minutes.
After Taylor Clark's shot towards the bottom corner was parried away by Grimley, the ball fell kindly to Jay Hosin lurking, from close range, who used the pace on the ball to side foot it home into the bottom corner, 6-0 Needham.
Seconds later though, the away side were denied once more by a decent stop by the goalkeeper. After Asemota's close range shot was blocked, the Hadleigh stopper was on hand to tip over the dangerous Needham strike from the rebound.
With virtually the last kick of the game, Needham went agonisingly close to adding what would've been their seventh goal of the night, as the young Reds' close range header down into the pitch bounced an inch wide of the far post.
The two sides will meet again in around a fortnight's time at Bloomfields as both sides have been drawn against each other in the Suffolk Boys' U18 Midweek Cup.
