Harlow Town Ladies manager Dean Perrett discusses his football career so far.
DK: What inspired you to be a coach/manager?
DP: Love and passion for the Game played for 30 years and had great experience with youth football at Yeovil Town, Before signing there for 4 years. Carried on playing before going into management of men’s team before I got the chance to become a ladies manager and for the last 6 years I have loved every minute.
DK: Give us a bit of background to your career so far, such as the teams you've coached/managed so far.
DP: Started off my ladies management career with Bishops Stortford under 16s where we had a great season finishing 2nd and winning the league cup. I then moved to Harlow Town under 18s and brought with me most of the Hertfordshire Rep Side that I was the manager for so we had a very good side but had to settle for runners up in our first year due to an exceptional Barking Abbey side. I was then asked to become Harlow Town ladies first team manager and have been there now for past 2 seasons. This season was fantastic until the virus struck we were unbeaten in the league and sitting pretty at the top hoping to gain promotion to the national league.
DK: If you could choose your top 3 highlights of your career so far, which 3 would you choose and why?
DP: Lots of highlights playing wise definitely scoring the amount of goals I did in my career and winning trophies along the way.
Ladies - winning the league cup with Stortford under 16s against Hayes and Yeading but most of all this season coaching this squad at Harlow ladies going unbeaten in the league all season.
DK: How have you found your time at your current club so far, give us a bit of an insight of what it's like to manage the club?
DP: Great club and they help the ladies section out greatly and always listen to my or the teams ideas. My local club so pleasure to be involved.
DK: How do you reflect on the season just gone from both a personal and team perspective?
DP: As I said above the team are unbelievable the players are fantastic and there quality just shines through. This season as I said was unbelievable and such a shame it had to be stopped and taken away from us like this. We understand why more important things going on so we will return and come back stronger.
DK: If you could relive one game (and would remain the same) from your career so far would it be and why?
DP: For me so many games this season were excellent especially after suffering a health Scare myself then coming back stronger after that and seeing the players determined to get the results was brilliant and a pleasure watching these ladies week in week out.
DK: Who is the best player you've coached so far and why?
DP: The Whole Squad I have at the moment so many fantastic players to mention or to pick one and we will be adding more soon to that squad.
DK: What is the best ground you've coached at so far and why?
DP: Harlow Town as the facility’s are great.
DK: Do you have any aims or targets going forward, and if so what are they?
DP: Do the same as what we were doing this season next season when safe to do so and take this side to the National league which they deserve.
